The Need for Community – CSJ Report

The Centre for Social Justice – an independent think-tank – has now released their report findings on care provion for adults with learning disabilities, specifically looking at the benefits of residential care and community integration. It makes for a very interesting read!

Some of the main findings showing;

Accommodation – access to residential placements has reduced over the last few years with increase in supported living and more people being looked after by their ageing parents at home.

Funding – the residential sector is seeing an impact through closures due to current funding pressures, which is affecting personal choice – thus going against The Care Act.
